Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young woman who came to know and love God. God told her that he had sent his son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins. Since by his blood Christ did all this for her as a sinner, she would be found not guilty of those things that had previously separated her from God. She was taught that one day she could live with him again; and the young woman believed him. She thought about how he had given her this amazing gift. She realized then, that we could all be brought back to God through His Son. What blessings he must have for us now that we are his friends, and is living within us!
This young woman knew that she needed to share this gift from God and His Son with as many people as she could. She wanted everyone she knew to know of God's love for them. She prayed to God and asked him how she should go about spreading this great Word. And without hesitation God answered her, as she knew that he would. He told her "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of age." (Matthew 28:19-20) She was told to "invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end." And the young women knew that this was what she would do.
With the help of her church leaders and the support of her family and friends the young woman prepared to go on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was told that there were people in Denver Colorado that were anxiously waiting for the message of God's love to be brought to them. She accepted this calling, knowing that this was what God wanted her to do.
"Therefor, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day. Therefor, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work"
"I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them."
My sister Dyan wrote this story for me, and gave it to me after my farewell. I couldn't stop crying when I first read it. I am so grateful that she is so supporting of me going on a mission, since she fell away from the church when she was a teenager. I love my family so much, and I love the gospel. This story is perfect, and means so much to me. I know i'm going to miss my family so incredibly much, but it makes it so much easier to know that they all support and love me.

ReplyDeleteI’m glad that you liked it =) Even though as an adult I’ve decided not to attend the LDS church, my faith in God and Christ has never wavered. I understand the importance of spreading God's word and bringing others into his fold. Even though I don’t belong to your church, I am very much involved in a different church that focuses on Christ's love for us as well. Our knowledge of God and Christ as our savior will be what saves us in the last days.
